About the Team

2018-2019 Team Hopes to Build on the Success of 2017-2018 SLI Team

NASA SLI is a college-level high-power rocketry challenge.  The Troop 17 Student Launch Team is the only middle school team whose proposal was accepted for the 2018-19 competition and one of only 7 middle and high school teams.  The Troop 17  SLT won three national awards in the 2017-2018 competition:

  1. First Place in STEM Education
  2. Second Place in Altitude Competition
  3. Third Place in Best Looking Rocket

STEM education and community service are key priorities for us.  We are focused on elementary education and disadvantaged youth. Our award-winning STEM education program reached over 2500 youth.

Over the 8 month long program, we design, analyze, document, test, and fly a high-power rocket carrying a science payload to an altitude of one mile.  We follow NASA’s rigorous R&D process alongside NASA engineers.

Come follow us for the latest news and pictures on our social media!

The program culminates with Flight Week at NASA in Huntsville in April 2019.  The Team needs to raise $15,000 and are actively seeking sponsorships.
