Adult Leaders

Adult Leadership Team

Troop 17’s Adult Leadership team brings to the table 40 years of combined Scouting leadership experience.  As a boy-lead Troop, our adult leaders are focused on providing guidance and mentorship, continuity, and making sure the Troop meets the individualized needs of each boy.  The Troop’s adult leaders cultivate a supporting, caring environment to help all Scouts grow in leadership, character, citizenship and fitness in accordance with the ideals and goals of the Boy Scouts of America.

John Gersbach – Scoutmaster

John Gersbach
I believe Boy Scouts is the absolute best leadership development program for boys. My vision for Troop 17 is to create a high-quality and safe Scouting environment, where every boy has the opportunity to learn and live the Scout Oath and Scout Law, reach his goals in leadership, advancement and achievements, and gain the skills necessary to be successful as a future leader and member of the community. My mission is to build the best possible Scouting experience for all members of our troop, their families, and those our troop supports through community service. In addition to my troop responsibilities, I have enjoyed being being a contributing staff member of Stonewall Jackson Area Council events (Scouting University), Order of the Arrow (Conclave), and Wood Badge (adult leader training program).
